Ink & Pen Tour 2016 – Day 3: July 17 Arrival in London

After what seemed like very little sleep, we awoke somewhere over the Atlantic ocean. Breakfast was served shortly thereafter and we saw land out of the window. I believe it was Northern Ireland first, then we approached from the north, over Wales. We flew over London, seeing the Tower Bridge, the Shard, and Parliament before landing at Heathrow. We arrived early and got our bags remarkably quickly. I had heard stories of UK Border control taking over an hour, so we had prepared for that…we were through it in 10 minutes, before our plane was actually scheduled to land. Score! The …

Ink & Pen Tour 2016 – Day 2: July 16 Travel Day

We hopped the monorail in to the Park after a quick visit to our friends at the Disney Vacation Club. We met up with Ryan and Veronica at the monorail station in Tomorrowland and then caught up with none other than Cynthia Hawes. Cynthia and I are both avid Disney fans and in nearly two decades of friendship, have never been in the park together. This was the day. We were going to ride Space Mountain but it was closed. We had limited time as we needed to head to the airport by 3pm, so we headed over to California …

Ink & Pen Tour 2016 – Day 1: July 15 Disneyland Resort

We left Sacramento and headed south to catch our flight to London. We chose an overnight in LA so we wouldn’t have to worry about a long, or not long enough, layover between the two. Since we are Disney fans, and discovered we hadn’t visited the lands in the month of July, this worked out well. We flew into Anaheim, rented a car from Alamo, and drove the 30 minutes to Garden Grove Wyndham. The parks awaited so we headed over. It was mid-afternoon on a Friday in July – needless to say the park was crowded, but not as …

Ink and Pen Tour 2016

Jet lag is a bear! After three weeks in Europe, I forgot that it takes anywhere from a half a day to a whole day per time zone to recover! I think, after 8 days, I’m finally back in my California time zone and ready to share this monumental trip with you all. I might still need a nap… Over the next 23 days, I’ll showcase each day of our trip…some were much more exciting than others, but all days were lovely. We also learned some great lessons about long-term travel…and luggage. Our Ink and Pen Tour 2016 started in …

On the road

I’ve been quiet, I know. But I’ve been actively working on this creation of Ink and Pen and where it’s going to go. And I recently found another little gem of an idea from The Minimalists that is right in line with my manifesto of less stuff, more experiences.

Join Our Pursuit

Yesterday I put out a manifesto on the purpose of this site…to consciously experience life and not just collect things. I will admit to being a little hesitant to call it a manifesto because it was just filled with my thoughts. Then I realized that is a perfect name for it! These are my thoughts and plans to live more fully and experience life, instead of moving from one activity to another gathering things. And I want you to join me! So, if  you are interested in my manifesto/workbook (yup, there are worksheets included), catch that little pop-up or click here. …

Ink & Pen Adventures – A Manifesto

We live in a world of needing more – more time, more money, more things, more…just more. It seems as if we think that if we don’t have “the stuff” to show that we have “the things”, we feel inadequate. A bigger bank account, larger house, fancier car – are they really a reflection of who we are and how we’ve gotten to where we are today? Maybe they are…that old Toyota Corona I drove was very much me at that time. And we do identify with our things as they often help us live our lives. In this world, I …
